Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL)
NRL is a Government of India Public Sector Undertaking engaged in the processing of crude petroleum oil. Located in Numaligarh, Golaghat district, Assam, it is one of India's strategically important refineries — serving the nation's energy needs while driving economic development in the Northeast.
I joined NRL on 30th August 1994 as a Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) — the beginning of a career spanning over three decades. My journey has taken me through four critical functional domains: Projects, Procurement, Warehouse Management, and SAP ERP — each building a unique layer of expertise.

Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET)

Commenced professional career at NRL, one of India's leading petroleum refineries. The GET programme provided a comprehensive foundation in refinery operations, engineering systems and project management — setting the trajectory for a distinguished career.
1994 – 2005
Projects & Procurement
NRL — Projects & Procurement Department
Extensive engagement in capital project execution and procurement management. Responsible for sourcing, tendering, vendor development and contract management for major refinery projects. Developed deep expertise in procurement strategy and supply chain optimisation for the petroleum sector.
2005 – 2015
Warehouse Management & Material Management
NRL — Warehouse & Materials Department
Led warehouse operations and inventory management for critical refinery materials, spares and equipment. Implemented systematic material management practices that improved efficiency, reduced procurement cycle time and ensured operational continuity. Built comprehensive knowledge of codification, cataloguing and inventory control systems.
2015 – 2020
SAP ERP Implementation & Management
NRL — ERP & Systems
Played a key role in SAP ERP deployment and management at NRL — particularly in the Materials Management (MM) module. Bridged the gap between operational requirements and digital systems, enabling data-driven decision making across procurement and warehouse functions.

Deputy General Manager (Project Warehouse)
NRL — Numaligarh Refinery Expansion Project
Currently leading the Project Warehouse function for the Numaligarh Refinery Expansion Project — one of the largest ongoing refinery expansion initiatives in Northeast India. Responsible for warehousing, logistics and material management for the massive capital project, ensuring timely availability of critical equipment and materials.
