Interests & Hobbies
A fulfilling life, I have always believed, is lived on many planes simultaneously. The refinery demands precision and discipline โ but the mind craves more: the stars, the cosmos, the movement of civilisations and the march of technology. These are the passions that animate my hours outside of work.
My deepest and most long-standing intellectual passion. Vedic astrology โ Jyotish โ is not superstition; it is a sophisticated system of cycles, archetypes and probabilities that has fascinated me for decades. I study transits, dasha periods and natal chart patterns with the same rigour I apply to engineering analysis.
We are living through a technological revolution as significant as the Industrial Revolution โ and I refuse to be a bystander. I actively explore AI tools, large language models, automation and their implications for industry, society and individual life. The intersection of AI with petroleum engineering, supply chain management and enterprise systems is an area I follow with particular interest.
This very website was built in collaboration with AI โ a demonstration of what is now possible without specialised coding skills. I intend to deepen this engagement significantly after retirement.
Cricket is not merely a sport in India โ it is culture, community, and occasionally, national theatre. I have followed the game devotedly for decades: from the days of Gavaskar and Kapil Dev through to the modern era of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Test cricket holds a special place โ the format rewards patience, strategy and character above all else. I follow ESPNcricinfo and CricBuzz closely and rarely miss a significant match on television.
Understanding money โ how it flows, how economies breathe, how markets reflect collective psychology โ has always struck me as an essential literacy for the modern person. I follow India's macroeconomic story closely, tracking the RBI, fiscal policy and equity markets through Economic Times, Moneycontrol and Business Standard. The global energy economy is of particular interest, given my background in the petroleum industry.
India's rise as a global power, the shifting architecture of the world order, Northeast India's development โ these are not abstract concerns. I read broadly across NDTV, BBC, Reuters, Al Jazeera and The Hindu to form independent, well-rounded views. The Northeast region holds particular significance for me: Assam's growth, connectivity projects and role in India's Act East policy are subjects I follow with both personal and professional interest.
Assam has deep roots in Vaishnavism, Tantra and the broader current of Sanatana Dharma. I have been shaped by this inheritance. Beyond organised religion, I am drawn to the philosophical underpinnings of Vedanta โ the nature of consciousness, karma, and the relationship between the individual self and the cosmos. Vedic astrology, for me, sits at the meeting point of science and spiritualism: a map of tendencies written in the language of planets.
